At the Academy of Live Technology (ALT), we’re passionate about being at the heart of the live entertainment industry. We give our students incredible opportunities to learn from and work with some of the top experts out there. Our partnerships with industry leaders are what make our hands-on approach to learning so special, and teaming up with d&b audiotechnik is a prime example of that.
Frazer Gall, Lecturer in Live Events Production (LEP), highlights this unique approach:
"ALT’s Live Sound modules challenge students to develop their understanding of the equipment they’ll encounter on concert tours and festivals around the world. Getting hands-on with d&b audiotechnik systems provides the fundamentals of speaker system setups, monitoring, amplifier configuration, rigging, and ultimately honing their mix skills."
Through this partnership, students don’t just learn theory—they immerse themselves in the realities of live events, exploring cutting-edge audio environments designed to captivate audiences.
Hands-On
Training with d&b audiotechnik
Since 2016, ALT has proudly collaborated with d&b
audiotechnik, a globally renowned leader in professional audio technology.
Together, we have delivered frequent training events, workshops, and innovative
live projects.
Emma Adamou, UK Event Manager at
d&b audiotechnik GB Ltd, explains:
"The Academy of Live Technology and d&b audiotechnik partnership
has led to frequent collaboration in the delivery of live events and innovative
projects since 2016. As regular guest lecturers to the ALT curriculum, d&b
are pleased to share knowledge on the design and deployment of d&b sound
systems, offer explanations of product features, and explore technical
innovation and performance with the student cohort."
d&b's expertise doesn’t stop at guest
lectures. ALT also hosts d&b’s renowned electro-acoustic and software
masterclasses on campus, ensuring students gain globally recognized skills
in audio design and system optimization.
Preparing
for the Future of Live Sound
For third-year students, the partnership
offers even more advanced opportunities. Using tools like ArrayCalc and R1,
students design and optimize sound systems for different venues and scenarios.
With d&b Soundscape, they dive into audio networking, object-based
audio, and integration with motion tracking systems, mastering skills that are
shaping the future of live sound.
Frazer Gall adds:
"It’s important for students to leave ALT with a clear understanding of
where the industry is heading. Being able to offer new and exciting skills to
prospective employers gives them a competitive edge in an ever-evolving
field."
d&b audiotechnik’s state-of-the-art
technology ensures students are exposed to the same systems they’ll encounter
in the professional world, preparing them to work confidently on global stages.
A
Partnership Built on Excellence
Our collaboration with d&b audiotechnik
not only enhances the student experience but also underscores ALT’s position as
a leader in live entertainment education. Students benefit from the expertise
of world-class professionals and gain hands-on experience with
industry-standard equipment, setting them up for success in their careers.
"It’s always a pleasure to head to
d&b HQ and host training events on campus here at Production Park," says
Frazer.
We’re incredibly grateful to d&b
audiotechnik for their ongoing support and partnership. Together, we’re
shaping the next generation of live entertainment professionals—equipping them
with the skills, experience, and innovation needed to lead the industry into
