What is UCAS Extra?

UCAS Extra is a free service that gives students who haven't yet received any offers—or have declined the offers they received—a second shot at securing a place at university. If you find yourself in this position, Extra allows you to apply for another higher education course, providing you with a fresh opportunity to find the right university for you.

Who is UCAS Extra for?

  UCAS Extra is for students who:

• Have applied through UCAS and used all five of their choices, but have not received any offers.
• Have received offers but decided to decline them.

If you use UCAS Extra to add a new choice, you won’t be able to go back to your original five choices, so it’s important to carefully consider your decision.

What if I didn't use all of my choices in my initial UCAS application?

If you didn’t use all five of your choices in your original UCAS application, there’s no need to use UCAS Extra. You can simply log in to your UCAS account and add another choice before the 30th of June, as long as you haven’t already accepted or declined any offers.
